Putin doc added to Drive slate

Drive, the London-based production funding and distribution business, has added a host of factual titles from UK producers to its sales slate ahead of MipTV next month.

Shows from Oxford Films, October Films, Ad Hoc Films and Bedlam have been added to the catalogue at Drive, which was set up by Lilla Hurst and Ben Barrett in 2014 and moved into distribution in 2016.

Hurst and Barrett have added topical doc Putin: The New Tsar (1×60’) from Oxford Films, which focuses on Russian president Vladimir Putin’s rise from poverty in St Petersburg to one of the world’s most powerful leaders. The programme originally aired on BBC2 in the UK.

Another timely current affairs show, Inside the EU (3×60’), is also joining the Drive slate. Originally produced for Channel 4 by October Films, the character-led doc series examines the inner workings of the European Parliament as Britain prepares to exit the EU in 2019.

BBC1 boxing series Fight Game (3×60’) from London-based sports doc specialist Ad Hoc Films is also available, offering unprecedented access to the McGuigan family and their stable of boxers fighting to become world champions.

Finally, Mafia Killers with Colin McLaren (6×60’) has been picked up from prodco Bedlam, having originally been commissioned by US cablenet Reelz. The show follows detective McLaren who looks at the rise and fall of six notorious mobsters.
