Volatile Earth

Synopsis

Throughout the history of our planet natural disasters have ravaged the earth and threatened the very existence of mankind.
In this extraordinary series, leading natural disaster experts identify the most extreme catastrophes to have hit Earth in the last 50,000 years, uncovering the dramatic reality of the world’s worst volcanic eruption, mega-tsunami, and hurricane.
From the ancient debris left in their wake, scientists piece together exactly what happened. How big was the disaster, what did it destroy, and how did it permanently change our planet? Using cinema grade CGI we recreate each disaster in terrifying detail, and illustrate what might happen should these epic events occur today.
