The Duke: In His Own Words

Synopsis

An intimate one hour tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh, filmed at Windsor Castle, the place he has always called home. And for over a year the film crew had the perfect guide – Prince Philip himself.

This highly revealing personal tour is a journey through the life of a very modern man, a pioneer and innovator who has been at the heart of the British Monarchy, and the Queen’s side, for over seventy years.

At Windsor, he is master of his own domain, and in this landmark documentary he opens up as never before, on royal life, family history, his successes and failures, and how he turned the most famous castle in the world into a home fit for a young and growing family.

Through it all the Duke is charismatic, entertaining and totally engaging. There’s relaxed on-screen banter, funny off-camera exchanges with the film crew, but also serious and at times very poignant and reflective moments.
The Duke even touches on his own place in history, and his firm belief that it is for others to decide his legacy.

This is the real Prince Philip, in his own words, a unique and enduring portrait which reveals a side of the man rarely seen.
