The Chop

Synopsis

The Chop follows 10 of the UK’s best carpenters as they gather in Epping Forest to compete to stage their own exhibition at London’s William Morris Gallery. Each week the contestants are tasked with creating items and artefacts to furnish an expanding grand cabin, the construction of which will be overseen by co-host and master carpenter William Hardie. The tasks revolve around a different historical theme each week including Nelson’s cabin on HMS Victory, a Victorian pub, a Gothic bedroom, a Georgian hunting lodge, and a 1960s’ Mad Men-inspired lounge. As the show progresses the cabins evolve to showcase the possibilities of woodwork.
